The Walk

I walked too far ahead and without knowing I have left you behind. I never once intended to do this to you. I tried to force tough love so you can relit your own fire, you passion and slowly but surely you will shorten the distance. But you came down on your knee, unable to crawl no more. You reached out for me. You scream for me. You scream and scream and scream until your lungs gave out. I have abandoned you in a place of darkness, a place of hopelessness, a place no one should ever reside.

Meanwhile the distance lengthened. The traces of you trickled away with every taken step. Now I know, the realisation came ever so slowly but now I know. I am alone. I am alone. I came running back. Frantically searching, trying to retrace the two same footprints that stretched for miles. And there you were, in the distance. I came but timelessly too late. I tried but you wont budge. I am not leaving. It isnt too late. I am staying where I am, with my arms wrap right around you. Until you can stand back up. Even if it takes forever, for eternally. I will not leave without you, will not abandon you.

My dream is to see two sets of shoes trailing behind our shadows, written into the eternal history of time.
